I lead community quilt-mapping events with the Rural Rivers Project in the White River and Black River valleys, with support from Dartmouth's Hopkins Center Arts Integration Grant, social practice artist Paula Frisch and artist Susan Marsh.

Quilt-mapping is a form of participatory mapping that brings community members together to share stories, ideas, and emotions while contributing to a collaborative quilt. As a map, the quilt can be "read" to understand memories, sensory experiences, and emotions around flooding disasters, as well as critical spatial information about vulnerability and mutual aid. As a form of participatory art, it supports community healing from trauma and has therapeutic benefits.

We materially connect the quilt to the landscape it references using natural dyes produced by floodplain plants and solar-based cyanotypes.
